Located outside the fortress, the Haut-Koenigsbourg medieval garden presents the different aspects of cultivation in the Middle Ages: planting in squares, rosebushes, a vegetable garden, a garden of simple plants and magic plants, benches where you can ‘tell tales’...
Without being a faithful reconstruction, it combines historical verisimilitude, aesthetics and educational interest. Utilitarian plants and a few wild plants, representative of medieval diets and practices, have been added to these squares. The garden at the Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg is a contemporary recreation of what a 15th-century medieval garden might have looked like.
