Klingenthal is one of the youngest villages in the region; it was built around the Royal Blade Manufactory, created in 1730 at the request of Louis XV. The aim was to establish a white weapons factory in the Kingdom of France, so as not to be dependent on foreign countries for the supply of weapons.
