" Fancy a journey back to the Middle Ages? Set out to discover the ruins of this fortified castle overlooking the village of Andlau. "
Built in 1247 to control the valley and the neighboring abbeys. The castle has a large square 24 m high keep and an inner courtyard. Fragments of polychrome frescoes can be seen on one of the vaults in the ruin; with the carved chimney caps, they suggest an unusual degree of refinement for the XIVth century.
During these last 20 years, it has been restored to become more accessible.
